Zubeen Garg was born on November 18, 1972, in Jorhat, Assam. Named after the renowned composer Zubin Mehta, Zubeen grew up in a musically inclined family. His mother, Ily Borthakur, a classical singer, was a significant influence on his early training in classical music. Over time, he expanded his repertoire to include folk, modern, and contemporary styles.
Career Beginnings and Breakthrough
Zubeen made his musical debut with the Assamese album Anamika in 1992, which became an instant hit. His breakthrough in Bollywood came with the song Ya Ali from the movie Gangster (2006), which became a nationwide sensation. He has since worked in Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu films, showcasing his versatility.
